PHL EMBASSY BUENOS AIRES ORGANIZES PHL INVESTMENT AND TRADE SEMINAR

22 May 2014 - The Philippine Embassy in Buenos Aires reports that it organized a Philippine Trade and Investment Seminar today at the Embassy Chancery. A total 40 representatives from different Argentine and Uruguayan companies were present during the seminar organized by the Embassy in close coordination with the Argentine Chamber of Commerce for Asia and the Pacific.

The seminar had three speakers, namely – newly arrived Philippine Ambassador to Argentina Ma. Amelita C. Aquino, former Argentinian Ambassador to the Philippines Mario Schuff, and Commercial Counsellor Josephine Romero from the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC) in Sao Paolo, Brazil.

The Trade and Investment Seminar served as Ambassador Aquino´s first event in Argentina after arriving in Buenos Aires on 20 May 2014 to assume her Post.   In her brief remarks, she highlighted the Philippines´ strong economic performance and the work done by President Benigno S. Aquino´s administration to sustain economic growth and curb corruption. Ambassador Aquino also emphasized the strategic location of the Philippines in Asia. According to Ambassador Aquino “the Philippines´ strategic location in the fastest growing region, and along two major trade routes – the Pacific Ocean and the South China Sea – makes it the ideal base for business, not only in Southeast Asia but also to East Asia.”

To complement Ambassador Aquino´s presentation, Ms. Romero´s presentation focused on the five advantages of doing business in the Philippines – rich talent pool, robust infrastructure and reliable infrastructure support, strategic business location, first-class lifestyle, and attractive investment incentives. She also took the opportunity to highlight the investment priorities of the Philippine Government.

The Philippine Trade and Investment Seminar was followed by a cocktail reception hosted by Ambassador Aquino for the participants.

The Philippine Embassy in Buenos Aires is actively seeking investment opportunities and working on increasing trade between Philippines and Argentina and the other countries under its jurisdiction (Paraguay, Uruguay, and Bolivia). END.
