19 February 2016 – Philippine Ambassador to Argentina Ma. Amelita C. Aquino turned over to Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Dinh Thao the chairmanship of the ASEAN Group in Argentina during the ASEAN Family Day on February 14 at the residence of the Ambassador of Thailand, Jesada Chavarnbhark.

In her remarks, Ambassador Aquino highlighted the cooperation among the ASEAN Group which made possible the successful holding for the first time of the ASEAN Festival “Buenos Aires Celebrates Southeast Asia” on September 19, 2015. She also cited the seminars and lectures participated in by the ASEAN embassies during the past year and expressed confidence that the new chair will continue the initiatives started under the Philippines’ chairmanship.

After the turnover ceremony, the members of the ASEAN group and their families enjoyed a day of camaraderie with games, karaoke singing and a sumptuous lunch of typical dishes contributed by each Embassy. END
