Undersecretary Manalo Shares Phl Experience as ASEAN Chairman with Argentine Diplomatic Cadets
31 August 2017 BUENOS AIRES – Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Policy Enrique Manalo spoke about the Philippine chairmanship of ASEAN to a packed audience of Argentine diplomatic cadets at the Instituto del Servico Exterior de la Nacion (ISEN) in Buenos Aires on 24 August 2017.
The Undersecretary’s comprehensive lecture was a significant and timely introduction to the ASEAN and more importantly the Philippines’ priorities during its chairmanship. In addition, the Undersecretary also discussed ASEAN’s efforts at community-building and regional economic integration.
The Argentine cadets expressed enthusiasm in getting to know ASEAN and the Philippines, its priorities during its chairmanship of ASEAN, as well as the diversity of the Southeast Asian region. They also were keen to learn more about the shared Hispanic heritage of the two countries, as well as the writings of Dr. Jose Rizal. A bust of Dr. Jose Rizal is displayed on Paseo de Republica de Filipinas along Avenida de los Incas in Buenos Aires.
Undersecretary Manalo was in Buenos Aires for the 3rd Philippines-Argentina Bilateral Consultation Meeting held earlier in the day.
