16 July 2014 - The Philippine Embassy in Buenos Aires reports that Ambassador Ma. Amelita C. Aquino, together with members of the Embassy, visited Escuela Numero 30 otherwise known as “Escuela de la Republica de Filipinas” in Chivilcoy, Province of Buenos Aires on 15 July 2014. It was the first visit of Ambassador Aquino to said school which was named after the Philippines in 1968.
The Embassy delegation was warmly received by School Director Ms. Jorgelina Olmos, Chivilcoy School District Authorities, teachers, parents, and a large group of enthusiastic primary school students.
During the short program, two fourth graders from the school read a letter addressed to their Filipino counterparts detailing their lives at school and how Argentina won first runner-up in the recently concluded World Cup. The children expressed hope that their letter would start an “intercambio” or exchange of letters with children in the Philippines.
In her remarks, Ambassador Aquino thanked the school for their warm welcome and encouraged the students to study well so they can achieve their dreams. Ambassador Aquino, on behalf of the Embassy, also presented the school with a 32-inch Smart LED TV and a home theater to help them supplement their classroom teachings with audio-visual presentations. The faculty and the young students were delighted to receive the gift.
Ambassador Aquino and the rest of the delegation headed to the Chivilcoy City Hall upon the invitation of Mayor Dario Speranza after the school visit. Ambassador Aquino and Mayor Speranza discussed possible future collaboration between Chivilcoy City Hall, Escuela Numero 30 and the Embassy. END.
