10 December 2014 - In line with the Department of Tourism’s (DOT) latest tourism promotion campaign, the Philippine Embassy in Buenos Aires, in cooperation with Viajes El Corte Inglés S.A. Argentina, conducted a “Visit the Philippines Year 2015” promotion at the latter’s headquarters in Buenos Aires on 09 December 2014.
In her brief remarks, Ambassador Ma. Amelita C. Aquino encouraged all those present to visit the Philippines given its many attractions, its warm and welcoming people, and the shared history and culture between the Philippines and Argentina. She mentioned that the Philippines is an exotic and yet familiar destination for all Argentines due to this shared historical and cultural heritage.
Second Secretary Ma. Carmela Teresa A. Cabreira highlighted key destinations in the Philippines, particularly Manila, Baguio/Banaue, Puerto Princesa, Cebu, and Bohol during her 20-minute presentation. She also enumerated the countless number of activities (e.g. nature and adventure, beaches, water sports, shopping, gastronomy, etc.) that the country has to offer.
The members of the Viaje El Corte Ingles S.A. Argentina team and the guests were highly impressed with the quality and effectiveness of the DOT’s promotional videos for its “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” and “Visit the Philippines Year 2015” campaigns which were shown during the program.
The program culminated with an open forum and a raffle draw. The main prize during the raffle was a dinner for two at Cocina Sunae, one of the top exclusive restaurants in Buenos Aires, which offers Filipino cuisine.
