Philippine Embassy Participates in the Opening of Casa de Asia in Buenos Aires

The Philippine Embassy in Buenos Aires, Argentina participated in the successful opening of the “Casa de Asia” in Buenos Aires on 23 July 2015.

Casa de Asia aims to be a bridge between Asia and Argentina, offering a platform for cultural, economic, commercial, educational and institutional interaction between Asia and Argentina.   It is an initiative of Argentine businessman Carlos Castelli who has been doing business with Asia for many years.

In his remarks during the opening, Ambassador Eduardo Zuain, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, underscored Argentina’s thrust to expand relations with Asian countries, particularly within the framework of south-south cooperation. He noted the great potential of cooperation between Argentina and Asia and cited the importance of people-to-people relations as a complement to government to government relations.

The other guest of honor, National Deputy Julia Perie, spoke of Argentina´s relations with Asia and her own experience interacting with Asian embassies in Buenos Aires.

Embassy personnel participated in a fashion show of traditional costumes along with India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea and Vietnam.    Guests also enjoyed a taste of the Philippines’ embutido which the Embassy prepared for the reception.END.
