24 May 2016 - The critically-acclaimed film “Jose Rizal” by the late Director Marilou Diaz-Abaya was shown at the Philippine Embassy in Buenos Aires on May 15 as part of the Embassy’s Sentro Rizal activities. Through the NCCA, GMA Films gave permission for the free screening of the movie.

In her remarks before the film showing, Philippine Ambassador to Argentina Ma. Amelita C. Aquino expressed hope that the viewers would draw inspiration from the life of Rizal and in their own way be the modern day heroes of the country. She also took the opportunity to thank the members of the Filipino community for their participation in the recently concluded elections, citing that by exercising their right of suffrage they are contributing to the future of the Philippines.

The film was well-received by the audience of about 40 Filipinos and friends of the Embassy who gave their warm applause at the end of the film. END
