Filipinos Celebrate Philippine Independence in Argentina

19 June 2017 BUENOS AIRES — The Philippine Embassy joined Filipinos in Argentina in celebrating the 119th Anniversary of the Declaration of Philippine Independence on June 11 at the Embassy grounds.

To commence the program, Filipino priest Father Iliud Nuevas celebrated Mass where he encouraged Filipinos to be more fervent in their duty to the country.

After the singing of the national anthem, Ambassador Ma. Amelita C. Aquino read the President’s Independence Day message followed by the reading of the message of the Secretary of Foreign Affairs Alan Peter C. Cayetano by Minister and Consul General Lolita B. Capco.

Dance and choral performances by some members of the Filipino community, including a dance performance of the popular song “Handog ng Pilipino sa Mundo” and the singing of “Isang Lahi” helped enliven the activities.

Filipino dishes such as adobo and pancit bihon were served during the event.
