Philippine Ambassador Speaks at National University of Lomas de Zamora

Philippine Ambassador to Argentina, Ma. Amelita C. Aquino, was the guest speaker at the conference series ¨Countries and their Economies¨ of the College of Economic Sciences of the National University of Lomas de Zamora in the province of Buenos Aires on 7 April 2015.
Before her presentation, Ambassador Aquino was received by the Dean of the college, Gabriel Franchignoni, and other officials during which they exchanged views on the relations between the Philippines and Argentina.
Before students, professors and officials of the university, the Ambassador gave her presentation entitled ¨”Getting to Know the Philippines: The Gateway to Southeast Asia”.
Ambassador Aquino opened her presentation by giving a brief profile of the Philippines, noting the shared history and culture of the two countries. She highlighed the strong economic performance of the Philippines brought about by economic reforms and the government’s pursuit of good governance. She also spoke on the country’s foreign trade situation and then focused on the trade and investment relations between the Philippines and Argentina, citing that the Philippines’ is an ideal gateway to southeast Asia for Argentina and other countries of Latin America. The Ambassador concluded her presentation with a video showing why it is more fun in the Philippines.
An open forum followed after the presentation. The event ended with the handing of a plaque of appreciation to Ambassador Aquino by Dean Franchignoni.END
