27 June 2016 - As part of the activities of the Philippine cultural week in Comuna 13 in Buenos Aires, an exhibition of the Filipino martial art Arnis and a presentation on the Philippines was held at the Comuna premises.

The Arnis exhibition on June 14 was led by Gustavo Ruben Albertti, Chief Instructor of the martial arts school Kombatan Argentina, which is a member of the International Philippine Martial Arts Federation.

The event started with a brief introduction of Arnis, its history, as well as its advantages as a form of martial arts. This was followed by a demonstration on the use of sticks, daggers and machete in self-defense which awed the audience.

On June 15, Consul Ma. Carmela Teresa Cabreira gave presentations on the Philippines, including its history, culture, and the major tourism destinations of the country. The presentation ended with a Filipino song number by Filipino community member Cheryl Metillo.

These activities were well-received by the audience who expressed interest in knowing more about the Philippines. END
