02 September 2016 — Philippine Ambassador to Argentina Ma. Amelita C. Aquino, along with the Ambassadors of Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and the Charge d’Affaires, a.i. of Viet Nam, met with Uruguay Foreign Minister Rodolfo Nin Novoa during a working lunch hosted by the Foreign Minister and Uruguay Ambassador in Argentina, Hector Lescano, on August 19.

Officials of the Mercosur-Asean Chamber of Commerce (MACC) headed by its President, Rodolfo Caffaro, were also present during the meeting.

Minister Nin Novoa conveyed the importance for Uruguay to further strengthen ties with the Philippines and other member countries of ASEAN. The private sector represented by the MACC noted the vast opportunities in the Southeast Asian market.  They recounted their experience in the region, including their experience in the Philippines where MACC maintains an office.
