11 May 2017 MENDOZA, ARGENTINA — Chef Christina Sunae, owner of the popular “Sunae Asian Cantina”, a restaurant specializing in Filipino and Southeast Asian food in Buenos Aires, Argentina, showcased the diversity of the flavors and influences of Filipino cuisine during “Islas de Filipinas,” a two-night event at the famous Restaurante Fogon of Bodega Lagarde in Mendoza from April 27 to 28.
The event featured Chef Sunae’s interpretations of traditional Filipino dishes such as sinigang na isda, ensaladang talong, adobo, escabeche, halo-halo and bibingka. The event was held under the “Pop-Up Chef” series sponsored by the restaurant, where famous chefs are invited to cook for the restaurant under a limited engagement.
Critics remarked at the diverse yet familiar flavors, which reflected the multicultural history of the Philippines.
